City Seqouyah 9
Acquisition Delayed 
A last minute development has caused a delay in the sale
of Garden City's Sequoyah 9 theater, which was scheduled
to be completed on April 30th. One of Dickinson
Theaters' lending institutions will not grant a release
of the Garden City property. Without this release,
Dickinson is not able to convey a clear title to
Mitchell Theatres for the Sequoyah 9.
"Obviously we are disappointed with this short
term issue, but both Dickinson Entertainment and
Mitchell Theatres are still committed to the Garden
City sale," stated Brian Mitchell. "We are in
constant contact with Dickinson's Corporate office.
I am confident they will find an amicable
solution so when they are able to obtain the
necessary release, the deal should be completed
expediently."
Mitchell Theatres has completed the acquisition
of the Southgate Cinemas in Liberal. Expansion and
remodel plans are on schedule to begin in August,
after the summer movie season is
completed. Sunflower Theaters will still be
operating the Southgate 4 thru the summer until the
remodeling begins.
